Terms of Service
Last updated: January 2026
Welcome to Commonplace. By using our service, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
Using Commonplace
Commonplace is a platform for collecting and sharing personal knowledge. You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. By creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate account information
- Keep your login credentials secure
- Be responsible for all activity under your account
Your Content
You own everything you create on Commonplace. We don't claim ownership of your notes, bookmarks, lessons, or highlights. By posting public content, you grant us a license to display it on the platform and in feeds.
You can delete your content at any time. When you delete something, we remove it from our servers within 30 days (some backups may take longer to cycle out).
Acceptable Use
Keep Commonplace a good place for everyone. Don't use it to:
- Post illegal content or content that violates others' rights
- Harass, abuse, or harm others
- Spam or use the platform for unauthorized commercial purposes
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or private data
- Interfere with the service's operation or security
Account Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or harm the community. If we do, we'll try to give you notice and an opportunity to export your data, unless immediate action is required.
The Service
We strive to keep Commonplace running smoothly, but we can't guarantee perfect uptime. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We're not liable for:
- Service interruptions or data loss
- Content posted by other users
- Third-party websites linked from the platform
Changes to the Service
We're always improving Commonplace. This means features may change, and occasionally we may discontinue features. We'll give reasonable notice for significant changes.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. For significant changes, we'll notify you via email or a prominent notice. Continuing to use Commonplace after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
