A few notes on the thinking behind this project.

Why this exists

Knowledge workers accumulate bookmarks, highlights, and notes across dozens of tools — but this knowledge stays scattered and private. The friction between capturing a thought and sharing it is high enough that most insights never leave the drafts folder. Commonplace treats publishing as a side effect of thinking well, not a separate activity.

How it's built

Astro and Svelte on Cloudflare. Each user gets their own subdomain. The stack is deliberately simple — static where possible, server-rendered where needed, and no JavaScript unless it earns its place. The goal is a fast, personal site that feels like yours, not a SaaS dashboard.

Design principles

Simplicity over features. Your content is yours — portable, readable, and not locked behind an account wall. Every entry is a small, atomic unit of knowledge that can stand on its own or compose into something larger. The interface stays out of the way so the writing can speak for itself.
